Thesis Title: Theoretical study of self-organised porous anodic oxide (PAO) films
Surface oxide films are formed on metals such as aluminium, titanium, and tantalum during oxidation in electrochemical cells, a process known as anodization. Under the right conditions, films can be obtained with highly regular arrangements of pores with submicron diameters. Numerous devices for energy, optical, catalytic, and biological applications make use of porous anodic oxide (PAO) films, taking advantage of their high specific surface area. During her PhD, she focuses on revealing the fundamental interfacial reactions and ion migration processes associated with anodization, and the electrochemical factors defining the geometric and chemical structures of PAOs. She conducted studies for pore formation using linear stability analysis, weakly non-linear analysis and developed a non-linear model based on weighted residual integral boundary layer theory.
