Nicolò Fraccaroli

Economist

I am an Economist at the World Bank and a Visiting Scholar at Brown University. I am based in Washington D.C.

My research focuses on political economy with data-driven applications to the topics of central banking, populism, and finance. I mostly use Natural Language Processing to explore these subjects. In 2017, I published with Robert Skidelsky the book Austerity vs Stimulus (Palgrave Macmillan). My work has featured on the Financial Times, the Guardian, the Sole 24 Ore and in the speeches of various policymakers including Mario Draghi, Christine Lagarde, and Andy Haldane.

Before joining the World Bank, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Adjunct Professor at Brown University, where I also taught Economics for Public Policy. I have worked at the European Central Bank, the Bank of England, and the Inter-American Development Bank.

I hold a PhD in Economics from the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2020 and a MSc in Political Economy of Europe from the London School of Economics.
