Use icons to clarify meaning:
Icons should reinforce the message or function, not replace it. They’re the visual sidekick that makes content easier to scan.
Keep icons stylistically consistent:
Use icons from the approved brand library only. Line weight, corner radius, and fill style should match — no visual oddballs sneaking in from the internet.
Maintain proper sizing:
Scale icons proportionally and use consistent sizes within a layout. Uniformity keeps everything feeling polished and intentional.
Leave adequate spacing:
Give icons room to breathe. Keep a consistent margin around them so they don’t feel cramped or glued to text.
Use icons to improve hierarchy:
Icons can help guide attention, break up text, or call out key actions — as long as they support the content structure.
Use approved brand colors:
Icons should follow the brand palette and accessibility rules. High-visibility icons are great — neon chaos, less so.
Don’t mix icon styles:
Avoid combining thin-line icons with thick fills, rounded styles with sharp angles, or mismatched sets. Consistency is the whole game.
Don’t rotate, stretch, or distort:
Icons should never be flipped, skewed, or stretched to fit a space. They deserve dignity.
Don’t use icons as decorative patterns:
Icons aren’t confetti — avoid using them as background textures or visual noise unless explicitly approved.
Don’t overcrowd layouts with too many icons:
Use icons intentionally. Overusing them creates clutter and weakens their impact.
Don’t recolor icons arbitrarily:
Colors outside the approved palette or poor-contrast combinations can cause accessibility issues or break brand cohesion.
Don’t place icons too close to text or edges:
Avoid awkward collisions. Icons need consistent padding and alignment to feel balanced.
