Newton County 4-H hosts monthly club night meetings for youth in grades 4-12 at Georgia Piedmont Technical College- Building B. During the meetings, youth will receive a 4-H newsletter and will attend Cooking & STEAM Club. There is no cost to participate in 4-H Club Night meetings, but some of the advertised activities might have an extra cost. Newton County 4-H strives to keep costs minimum and opportunities vast!

During the meetings, youth will receive a 4-H newsletter and participate in fun activities. Each summer, Georgia 4-H offers a variety of summer camps for youth in grades 4-12. In 2021, campers in 9th-12th grade have the opportunity to attend Senior Camp & Senior Extreme Camp. More information about summer camps and scholarship opportunities will be available at the 4-H office starting, January 2023.

Newton County 4-H has a livestock program that challenges 4-H’ers with real life issues as they learn responsibility through raising, showing, and judging livestock. Livestock projects give the opportunity to practice and acquire new knowledge in fields of animal science, business, time management & leadership. Participation opportunities vary by age and animal.

Cotton Boll & Consumer Judging
The Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging Team is available to youth in 4th-12th grade. Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging is a competitive judging contest where the team learns about cotton as an agricultural commodity in Georgia and creates a commercial to promote cotton. In addition, youth learn about 4 different goods or services. They then use this knowledge to make rational decisions based on a purchasing scenario. Team Practices start in September/October. Competition is in November!
LifeSmarts
The LifeSmarts Team is available to youth in 6th-12th Grade. LifeSmarts is the ultimate consumer challenge. Students prepare to enter the real world as smart adult consumers by focusing on five key topic areas: consumer rights and responsibilities, the environment, health and safety, personal finance, and technology. Team practices start in November or December and the competition is held in February!
Poultry Judging
The Poultry Judging Team is available to youth in 4th-12th grade. The team learns about poultry and egg production standards and marketing. Youth apply these standards in a realistic decision-making situation. The contest consists of participants judging both live birds and market poultry, as well as identifying parts of a bird, and evaluating egg quality. Team practices start in March or April and the competition is held in May.

Project Achievement is one of the largest and most exciting, challenging and rewarding programs offered by Georgia 4-H. For Senior 4-H'ers, students in grades 9th-12th grade, they choose a project area of interest, do project work in that area throughout the year documenting it on a 5 page resume like document, research a specific topic, write an 10-12 minute presentation, and then present it to a judging panel. Competition is held yearly in March at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.

Fall Forum at Rock Eagle 4-H Center
Fall Forum is a recreational and educational opportunity planned for Seniors 4-H’ers (9th-12th grades). The weekend includes a mix of workshops and education sessions, along with opportunities for community service and exhibits, all planned by and led by 4-H’ers. Recreational programs for 4-H’ers are included to allow 4-H’ers to interact with youth from all over Georgia. In addition, training and educational opportunities are also offered for 4-H volunteers during the weekend. Fall Forum is typically held in December. Watch for more information to come in November of each year.
Senior 4-H Conference at Rock Eagle 4-H Center
Held annually at Rock Eagle 4-H Center, Senior Conference known for fun classes, service projects and 4-H Prom! Senior Conference is typically held in April. Watch for more information to come in March of each year.
State 4-H Council at Rock Eagle 4-H Center
State 4-H Council, a Georgia 4-H core program, is the constitutional meeting of the Georgia 4-H Council and includes the election of Georgia 4-H state officers. Registration for State 4-H Council is open to any current 8th-12th grade 4-H members. This annual meeting hosts multiple events, competitions, and training throughout the weekend for youth and adults. State Council is held in June of each year.
