Newton County 4-H hosts monthly club night meetings for youth in grades 4-12 at Georgia Piedmont Technical College- Building B. During the meetings, youth will receive a 4-H newsletter and will attend Cooking & STEAM Club. There is no cost to participate in 4-H Club Night meetings, but some of the advertised activities might have an extra cost. Newton County 4-H strives to keep costs minimal and opportunities vast!

During the meetings, youth will receive a 4-H newsletter and participate in fun activities. Each summer, Georgia 4-H offers a variety of summer camps for youth in grades 4-12. In 2026, campers in 4th-6th grades have the opportunity to attend Cloverleaf Summer Camp at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. More information about summer camps and scholarship opportunities will be available at the 4-H office starting January 2026.

Newton County 4-H has a livestock program that challenges 4-H’ers with real life issues as they learn responsibility through raising, showing, and judging livestock. Livestock projects give the opportunity to practice and acquire new knowledge in fields of animal science, business, time management & leadership. Participation opportunities vary by age and animal.

Cotton Boll & Consumer Judging
The Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging Team is available to youth in 4th-12th grade. Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging is a competitive judging contest where the team learns about cotton as an agricultural commodity in Georgia and creates a commercial to promote cotton. In addition, youth learn about 4 different goods or services. They then use this knowledge to make rational decisions based on a purchasing scenario. Team Practices start in September/October. Competition is in November!
Poultry Judging
The Poultry Judging Team is available to youth in 4th-12th grade. The team learns about poultry and egg production standards and marketing. Youth apply these standards in a realistic decision-making situation. The contest consists of participants judging both live birds and market poultry, as well as identifying parts of a bird, and evaluating egg quality. Team practices start in March or April and the competition is held in May.

MilkMake
This contest is a chance for 4th-8th grade students to find or create a tasty milkshake or smoothie recipe. Students submit the recipe and a picture of their creation to Newton County 4-H. Recipes will be judged on nutrition, appeal, creativity, presentation, and content. Winners will be awarded in multiple categories!
Peanutrition
In this contest, 4th - 8th grade 4-H'ers create a recipe for their favorite peanut butter sandwich. Students submit the recipe and a picture of their creation to Newton County 4-H. Recipes will be judged in three categories: most nutritious, most unusual, and most creative.
Project Achievement is one of the largest and most exciting, challenging and rewarding programs offered by Georgia 4-H. 4-H’ers choose a project area of interest, research a topic, then write and present an oral presentation to others. For Cloverleaf 4-H’ers, students in grades 4-6, this process is about hands on learning, self confidence, and sharing knowledge. Competition begins at the school, local, or county level and can advance to a district level.

Junior 4-H Conference at Rock Eagle 4-H Center
Held annually at Rock Eagle 4-H Center, Junior Conference is a two day recreational and educational opportunity planned for 4-H’ers in the 6th through 8th grade. The weekend includes a mix of workshops and education sessions, along with opportunities for community service and exhibits, planned by and led by the Junior Board of Directors. Recreational programs for 4-H’ers are included to allow 4-H’ers to interact with youth from all over Georgia. Educational workshops, community service, and recreation are led by high school-aged teen leaders. Junior Conference is typically held in November. Watch for more information to come in October of each year.
Junior 4-H Rally at Wahsega 4-H Center
Held annually at Wahsega 4-H Center in Dahlonega, Junior Rally is a two day recreational and educational opportunity planned for 4-H’ers in the 6th through 8th grade The weekend is known for ropes course obstacles, time at waterfall & creek, service projects and the annual glow in the dark egg hunt. Junior Rally is typically held in April. Watch for more information to come in March of each year.
