João Moreira was an author on a paper that was featured on the cover of Cell Reports in the June 2023 Issue. The cover image is an illustration of a detailed computational model of the neuronal circuits of the mouse primary motor cortex (M1). Different colors represent different cell types across the six layers of M1, and bright spots indicate neural activity. SOHP Inaugural Research Day
On May 3, 2023, the School of Health Professions (SOHP) held its first annual Research Day, with over 100 students in attendance. Students showcased a wide array of research conducted in the Diagnostic Medical Imaging, Health Informatics, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Physical Therapy programs. The program included oral and poster presentations and a keynote speech delivered by Dr. Mark Stewart provided insightful information on research in the health professions, titled: How Research Changes You and How You Can Change the Lives of Others. The poster presentations depicted key study relationships and provided attendees with a perspective on research in the health professions. The oral presentations were equally engaging and informative. The presenters were well-prepared and knowledgeable, and the question-and-answer sessions that followed allowed for lively discussions on the research presented. The event afforded interprofessional collaboration across the disciplines in the SOHP and facilitated the sharing of research findings and implications, demonstrating the research knowledge and critical thinking skills of our students. Overall, the inaugural Research Day for the School of Health Professions was successful, highlighting the exciting and important research conducted by SOHP students.
Special thanks go out to the students, faculty, program administrators, members of the Dean’s Office, and School of Graduate Studies for their assistance in making the event a success!
