This questionnaire was made at the end of the project. It was filled out by 31 students who were still active at that time.
Some other students, who had taken part in the project earlier, had left the school or given up after the first part (magazine).
You can find the students’ responses here. Here are some graphs from the Google Form:
For most students, this Erasmus+ project was their first experience with the programme.
The students enjoyed the activities that were offered during the project. The most popular activities were the mobilities, shooting videos and working with international partners. On the contrary, using the Twinspace Forum was not popular at all. Zoom had barely better results. It seems that students prefer to communicate in person rather than remotely.
Which group activity did you like the most? Explain why.
Selected answers:
“Making videos during the mobilities, create something with a clear purpose.”
“Participating in person in the third mobility in Bordeaux, because we got to explore Bordeaux as
well as have fun together”
“Probably the mobility, because we were able to discover new ways of living, and we were able to
connect with new people in person which allow us to understand things better”
“Working on article because we had different point of view, ideas. We had to debate about it, to
decide which are the best”
“Filming, it was fun going around the city interviewing people”
“ What I like it the most was participating in person in the third mobility in Bordeaux, because it
was funny and the places that we went were so beautiful.”
“I liked our online meetings. It was nice meeting everyone!”
How did the COVID-19 pandemic impact your work on this project?
Selected answers:
“The COVID-19 had an impact on our classes because we had to wear the masks all day and we
coudn't comunicate between us properly.”
“The COVID-19 pandemic outbreaks have had an impact on the German mobility because they
couldn't travel”
“I am really sad for all the cancelled mobilities”
“We couldn’t go to our mobility in Spain which was a little disappointing but me managed to do
other things that were very great”
“It really impacted the project because the exchanges were more difficult”
“ Our mobility was cancelled :( The work was online though, so at all the impacts werent that bad”
As the two questions above show, visits and communication with partners were both quite to
very good, according to the students.
Students prefer in-person interaction to virtual meetings by far.
We can also see that students naturally used their own devices and social media to
communicate with each other.
This graph shows that most students consider they have made some progress during the project. About 5 to 7 students out of 31 consider they have not made any progress. The speaking and listening skills seem to be those that improved the most during the project. The slightly inferior results in “writing” can be explained by the fact that the “writing” part of the project had taken part at the beginning, and had ended more than a year before this
questionnaire was submitted.
These three graphs show us that students do not necessarily feel that they have improved their ICT skills, although they have learned to use new digital tools. However, the increase in media literacy skills and intercultural knowledge is unanimous.
According to the students, four areas were the most beneficial to them:
❖ learning how to collaborate in transnational teams
❖ communicating in English
❖ learning technical skills (shooting videos…)
❖ improving digital skills
What is / what are the main thing(s) you've learned during this project?
Selected answers:
“I have learned to use different digital tools like Zoom, Quizz, etc.
I learned things about the vertical farms and the life in Mars and in the space.”
“I learned how to do a voice over, record a good video, speak more”
“Leading a project until the end”
“How to edit a video, how to film one, how to write a short article, how to communicate with
others when you don’t speak the same language”
“I learn speak better English and communicate with international parterns.”
The last two questions leave no doubt as to the positive impression left by the News
From Utopia project on the students who took part in it!
