Bible Study 2025
This year our weekly Bible Study will focus on Paul’s first letter to the Church at Corinth. His purpose for writing was to deal with problems the church was facing. All of the issues can be traced back to pride, and thus in 1 Corinthians 1:27-29 we have what may be the thesis statement of the book: “God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And He chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 28 God chose things despised by the world] things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. 29 As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.”
We invite you to come Tuesday afternoons at 1:15 – 2:00 pm. to see how Paul deals with the issues of conflict, misconduct, and controversy, and how external things like eloquence, social status, ascetic practices, etc. mean nothing in God’s kingdom. Blessings, Calvin
