Individual therapy is an effective, evidence-based treatment for a variety of psychological disorders and is also useful more broadly in helping individuals manage common, distressing or overwhelming difficulties. Research carried out with national samples shows that about 75% of individuals seeking therapy experience significant benefits and symptom reduction.
At New Beginnings Psychological Services, therapy is provided for individual clients seeking to address a broad range of challenges, including but not limited to mood disorders, such as depression, anxiety disorders, symptoms related to grief and/or trauma, symptoms related to stress caused by family-, relationship- and/or work-related challenges.
Individual therapy is available for adults, adolescents, and children, and involves one-on-one meetings during which mental health treatment is provided. The treatment is personalized to address the unique needs of an individual, and all of the work is done in the context of a safe, respectful, and trusting relationship with every client.
The treatment involves a period of assessment, in which the therapist will work with the client to develop a thorough understanding of the client's goals and needs. A unique treatment plan is then established to specifically address the client's specific needs and to help the client develop an adequate understanding of the factors contributing to their challenges. Through the course of treatment, clients work to developing tools to reduce, eliminate, and/or manage symptoms and/or challenges, and to live a healthier, more peaceful and fulfilling life.
