Playground

How do the children become familiar with the playground?

Children will be invited to a few transition events which will take place in our playground.   The pupils will be introduced to the Pupil Support Assistants who will supervise them during break times. Try to visit the playground during the holidays to familiarise yourself with the school building and playground.

Children will go to the playground to play during their school day.  Class teachers usually accompany them the first few times.  Sometimes we even have breaks at slightly different times for it to be a bit quieter.   Children will also be allocated a Primary 7 buddy who will be an older friend that will help them adjust to the playground and this new experience.  Primary 7s will be on hand to support their younger friends.

What about snacks?

Our school is a Health Promoting School and we encourage all our children to make healthy food choices.  We would ask you to send only a small healthy break time snack which is not in a tub and easy to unwrap as our break is only fifteen minutes long.  Children want to play!
