TEXICAN
ABOUT
Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, Matt Espinoza, known professionally as the Texican is the first artist and founder of New 210 Records.
He learned and played music at a young age, but did not begin making music until 2018, when he created the Texican, and wrote the unreleased album New Game, including a song that, in its production, was on course to shatter world records. This album, however, was not only controversial (to the point where Tex himself hated it in retrospect), but no beats or recordings were ever made for the project, and everything only exists in writing.
His potential career would remain dormant until 2020, when in late October, he would enter a contest using a brand new song; "Eternal". He would not win, but it kickstarted his career. He started a SoundCloud, and by December, during the production of his first album, he created New 210 Records. He has since been using it as his private label. His first project, Class of 2021, was released on January 24, 2021 on his SoundCloud.
In August 2021, he moved to Albuquerque, NM, to pursue a college education. During this time, he released the three-part mixtape Untitled Sandia Project, on August 11, October 21, and November 24 respectively, and, on December 1, 2021, announced the production of his second album, Rosa, set to be released in late 2022.
It wouldn't be until May 2022 that Tex would announce his first album, titled 2003. Tex would release three new singles to promote the album. The first, titled "Galaxy" (titled "Super Mario Galaxy 2" on SoundCloud), was released on May 20, and is the first song released by Tex in six months since the release of The Experience on November 21. The album will be released on June 26, 2022.
