Department for Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology
Our lab has been working for more than a decade on the molecular and functional parallelism between nervous and vascular development and plasticity. Our studies have ranged from using biochemical and cell biological methods to elucidate the molecular interactions and signaling cascades important for cellular behavior and intercellular communication, as well as the analysis of complex in vivo processes in whole organisms complemented by a series of ex vivo and in vitro assays that allow us to manipulate the biological system in a simplified manner.
The overarching goal of our research is to identify and disentangle the molecular pathways that govern the crosstalk between the neural and vascular systems and translate these discoveries into cures of the central nervous system and other organ dysfunctions.
