Happy Fall NEST+m! Don't let your upcoming exams spook you... we know you've been thinking of us latte-ly.
The purpose of this club is to equip the NEST+m K-12 community with tutors to foster an environment where we can lean on each other for academic support. By the end of the year, this club will host multiple study sessions, match tutor-tutee pairings, award outstanding tutors, and have the school and NEST+m family familiar with the exceptional initiative.
We have organized high school tutor pairings where students who request tutoring are paired up with a high school peer who has either taken the subject or is currently excelling at the subject. Most subjects have a cut-off score of 90+ on the regents, 4 or 5 on the AP course, and a grade of 93+ in the class, proving that our tutors (we have over 90!) are academically well-rounded. Tutoring sessions are scheduled based on tutor and facility availability. They will take place at the NEST+m building before school, during 7th period lunch, or after school.
In addition, we also offer a weekly after school program in the library where NEST+m K-3 can partake in. K-3 tutees will be paired with a high school buddy with similar interests as them that will assist with homework, provide mentorship, and foster unforgettable friendship. There is no GPA cut off to become a K-3 tutor! However, all of our tutors complete a mandated training session.
Upper grades 1-on-1 matching: if you need a consistent tutor, we will match you to a tutor that aligns with your availability and subjects
One-offs: perfect for those who don't need consistent tutoring! Book a one-time session through our sign up sheet (coming soon!) and an email will be automatically sent to your tutor of interest. One-offs occur everyday during lunch and after school in room 374
K-8 1-on-1 matching: on special teacher and parent requests, we will match your child to a consistent upper grades tutor that aligns with their availability and subjects. They will assist with homework help and become their mentor
K-3 after school tutoring program: occurs every Tuesday after school in the library starting November! There will be 2 semesters. K-3 students can sign up to be paired up with a high-school buddy for homework help. We aim to making tutoring fun yet worthwhile!
Study resources padlet: we have been collecting upper grades study material that are all made by our fellow tutors. These resources are accessible for everyone and can be found in our "Study resources" tab.
Book Buddies: our partner initiative run by Medine A '26 is a way for high school students to read to grades K-5 or assist their classrooms during their lunch period
Office hours assistance: many of our tutors assist teachers during their office hours sessions! Feel free to stop by your interested teacher's office hours!
"I tutored a tutee in Algebra 2 in preparation for a test and she ended up scoring higher than me on a test!" - Peer Tutor '25
"Last year our tutors were able to make positive impacts at the Lower, Middle, and Upper Grades in our K-12 school. They also helped my chemisty class after school and Saturday tutoring sessions. I cannot wait to work with this club during my sessions" - Mr. Chin-Fatt
"I was tutoring my friend in Regents Physics and she scored her first 100 on a test. We were cheering so hard together when I found out. I was so so so proud of her!!" - Peer Tutor '24
We got your back! With over 90 tutors ready to help we can help support students. Fill out the "Tutor Request Form," and we will notify you through email when we have matched you and will provide your scheduled sessions.
After you have filled out the Tutor Request Form, we will email you and CC your tutor. This will allow you to connect with one another and exchange contact information for the purpose of scheduling future tutoring sessions. Once sessions have been established, tutees must adhere to the schedule. If you do not receive a reply from your tutor after the initial email or are having trouble contacting your tutor, please email us at nestmpeertutors@gmail.com and we will assist you.
Tutoring is free. Our tutoring is supported by NEST+m students volunteers based on their availability
If you would like tutoring to happen outside of the NEST+m building, then it would not be associated with NEST+m Peer Tutors. We are still able to send our tutors to you for tutoring, but the tutors would not receive volunteer hours. You are welcome to pay them if you wish.
