Privacy Policy for Nero: Pet Care Manager

Nero - Pet Care Manager ("Nero," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and the privacy of your pets' information. This Privacy Policy explains what information Nero collects, how it is used and stored, and the choices you have. By using Nero, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Nero is designed to keep as much of your information as possible on your own device and in your own iCloud account— not on our servers, because we don't operate one. Specifically, Nero collects and stores:

Pet Profile Information

• Pet name, species, breed, gender, and birthday

• A photo you choose for your pet's profile (see "Photos" below for how this is selected)

Health & Care Records

• Vaccine, veterinary, and grooming appointments, including titles, notes, dates, and reminder preferences

• Weight entries and history for each pet

• Daily or weekly routines you create (e.g., feeding times, medication reminders) and their completion history

Location Information (Nearby Vets feature only)

• If you use the "Nearby Vets" feature, Nero asks for permission to access your location while the app is in use, in order to search for nearby veterinary clinics using Apple's MapKit.

• Your location is used only to perform this search and to calculate distances shown to you. It is not stored by Nero, not linked to your pet profiles, and not shared with anyone.

• You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device's Settings; the rest of the app will continue to work normally.

App Preferences

• Settings such as your preferred weight unit (kg/lbs) and which pet is currently selected, stored locally on your device.

Nero does not require you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal identifier to use the app.

2. How Your Information Is Stored and Synced

All the information listed above is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework and synced across your devices using iCloud (via CloudKit) — under your own personal iCloud account, governed by Apple's own privacy and security practices.

This means:

• Your pet data is stored in your private iCloud database, not in a database we own or control.

• We do not have access to your pet profiles, health records, or photos.

• If you sign out of iCloud or disable iCloud sync for Nero, your data simply stops syncing between your devices — it remains on the device(s) where it was created.

If you use Nero's Home Screen widget, your data is also shared locally between the Nero app and the widget on your own device, using Apple's App Group mechanism. This sharing happens entirely on-device and is never transmitted anywhere.

3. Photos

When you choose a profile photo for your pet, Nero uses Apple's built-in PhotosPicker. This is a privacy-preserving system component that runs outside of Nero's app process:

• Nero does not request or receive access to your full photo library.

• Nero only receives the single photo you actively select.

• That photo is then stored as part of your pet's profile, synced via your personal iCloud account like the rest of your pet data.

4. Notifications

Nero can send you local notifications for appointment reminders, daily routines, and weight check-in reminders, based on settings you choose within the app. These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device — Nero does not use a push notification server, and no notification content is sent to or processed by us.

You can manage or disable notifications at any time from the Settings tab within Nero, or directly from your device's Settings app.

5. Premium Subscription & Payments

Nero offers an optional Premium subscription that unlocks additional features. Subscription purchases and billing are handled entirely by Apple's App Store / StoreKit. Nero does not collect, see, or store your payment card details — this information is processed directly by Apple in accordance with Apple's own privacy policy.

6. How We Use Your Information

Because Nero does not operate its own servers or collect data centrally, the information described above is used only to:

• Display your pets' profiles, health records, and reminders back to you within the app

• Sync that information across your own devices via your personal iCloud account

• Search for nearby veterinary clinics when you explicitly use that feature

• Schedule local reminders you've requested

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.

7. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or pet information with third parties. The only parties involved in handling your data are:

• Apple, for iCloud sync (CloudKit), Maps/location search (MapKit), notifications, and subscription billing (StoreKit) — all governed by Apple's own privacy practices.

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in Nero.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

You are always in control of your data:

• You can edit or delete any pet profile, appointment, weight entry, or routine directly within the app at any time.

• Deleting a pet profile also removes all of its associated appointments, weight history, and routines.

• Because your data lives in your personal iCloud account, deleting it within the app removes it from iCloud sync as well.

• Uninstalling Nero does not automatically delete your iCloud-synced data; you can manage or delete it through your device's iCloud settings.

9. Children's Privacy

Nero is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email above so we can address it.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, export, or delete it. Because your data is stored in your own iCloud account, you can exercise most of these rights directly through:

• The app itself (edit/delete any record)

• Your device's iCloud and Notification settings

11. Security

We rely on Apple's industry-standard security practices for iCloud/CloudKit storage and data transmission. While no system can guarantee absolute security, we have designed Nero to minimize the data we handle directly by keeping your information in your own private iCloud account rather than on servers we operate.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Nero's features evolve. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
