Location TBD.
Students must achieve a final grade of 80% or higher to graduate. Final grades are calculated from assignment grades, Seminar project grades, participation, and character assessment. Students must also attend at least 80% of the scheduled hours (in this case, 80% or 20 out of 25 hours of NERCLS meetings) to earn credit for the course.
In our scheduling process, we took into account time-zone differences and did our best to ensure that the hours are reasonable across the contiguous United States time-zones. On all schedules and assignments, times will be given in Eastern Time, Central Time, Mountain Time, and Pacific Time.
If you have never attended an RCLS before and are seeking RCLS credit, apply for the standard RCLS.
If you are an RCLS or COS grad and already have RCLS credit in eServices, apply for RCLS Advanced (if available). This is a course focused on Phase IV leadership expectations and will cover large-scale event management, cadet command skills, and executive-level planning and coordination (This course is not offered for the Winter 2024 session).
All students will receive a NERCLS challenge coin, NERCLS polo shirt, lodging, and meals . The course tuition will allow us to pay for those items.
Payment will be conducted through eventbrite and can be made upon being accepted into the RCLS. Follow the instructions here to submit your application.
For applicants under 18, we ask all parents to fill out the parent questionnaire. Other than that, you can help your cadet submit their application. If you need help submitting your cadet's application, look here!
The curriculum for the normal RCLS is different from RCLS Advanced. The standard RCLS covers Phase III leadership expectations and teaches the psychology of leadership, problem-solving techniques, effective writing, speaking, and group dynamics. This counts as RCLS credit for eligibility in earning the Ira C. Eaker Award.
RCLS Advanced is focused on Phase IV leadership expectations and will cover large-scale event management, cadet command skills, and executive-level planning and coordination. The Curriculum Guide for Northeast Region Cadet Leadership Schools outlines the planned classes and assignments for each course (This course is not offered for the Summer 2024 session).
Discord is a free online chat, voice, and video platform for individuals to communicate and socialize. The NERCLS Discord allows students to freely communicate and collaborate on assignments and coursework. Apart from that, the NERCLS Discord server includes talk about National Cadet Special Activities, reading lists, health and fitness, CyberPatriot, STEM, aerospace, emergency services, Cadet Advisory Council, and anything else Civil Air Patrol related!
