Major Shawn Stanford serves as the Northeast Region Deputy Chief of Staff for Cadet Programs, overseeing and assisting the implementation of the Cadet Program for the nearly 4,000 Cadets in the nine Wings of Northeast Region. Maj Stanford was a Cadet in Connecticut from 1977 through 1981, with a break in CAP service while he was an active duty Marine. He rejoined as a Senior in Missouri in 1991 where he served as a Leadership Officer and Deputy Commander for Cadets. He transferred to Pennsylvania in 1998 and served as a Deputy Commander for Cadets and Squadron Commander. In 2006 he had a break in CAP service for his Army career. He rejoined in 2016 in New Hampshire, serving as Assistant Director of Cadet Programs. In 2022 he took an ADY position as a Deputy Commander for Cadets in Pennsylvania. He transferred back to Pennsylvania in 2024.
Outside of Civil Air Patrol, Maj Stanford is an IT professional with 40 years of continuous experience. He is a former enlisted Marine and a retired Army Artillery chief warrant officer. He had a 30-year military career, with eight years of active duty service in the Marine Corps and 22 years of service in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. His Guard service included three overseas deployments, and he has served as a staff officer at battalion, brigade and division levels.

Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Ethan B. Hillard has been a dedicated member of Civil Air Patrol since June 2020, consistently demonstrating leadership, commitment to emergency services, and a passion for cadet development. As the Advisor to the Cadet Commander of the Col. Francis S. Gabreski Cadet Squadron, he plays a crucial role in mentoring cadets, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring the operational success of the squadron. His expertise extends beyond his unit, as he serves as the Cadet Officer in Charge for the Northeast Region Cadet Leadership School, where he leads the coordination and execution of one of the region’s premier leadership training programs. With extensive experience in emergency services, he holds multiple qualifications, including Ground Team Member (Levels 1-3), Urban Direction Finding, Flight Line Marshaller, and Communications Unit Leader. His dedication to training has led him to participate in prestigious programs such as Hawk Mountain Ranger School, National Emergency Services Academy, and Cadet Officer School at Maxwell AFB. Over the years, he has held numerous leadership positions within the Northeast Region and New York Wing Cadet Advisory Councils, as well as key roles in his squadron, including Cadet Public Affairs Officer, Cadet Communications Officer, and Cadet Leadership Education Officer. A junior in high school, he continues to foster excellence within Civil Air Patrol, inspiring his peers and setting a high standard for leadership and service. His vision remains focused on ensuring cadets develop confidence, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of their training and leadership experiences.
C/Lt. Col. Evan Lentz, a member of the Butler Composite Squadron 712, began his journey with the Civil Air Patrol in 2020 as a cadet. Throughout his cadet career, he steadily advanced through the ranks and earned one of CAP’s highest cadet honors—the General Ira C. Eaker Award (#4533). He has consistently demonstrated versatile leadership and active involvement across all three of CAP's core missions.C/Lt. Col. Lentz has attended, staffed, and led numerous Wing, Region, and National events. Notably, he has staffed six Region Cadet Leadership Schools (RCLSs) across four different regions: Great Lakes Region (GLR), Northeast Region (NER), North Central Region (NCR), and Mid Atlantic Region (MAR).
Currently, C/Lt. Col. Lentz serves as the National Cadet Advisory Council (CAC) Northeast Region Assistant Representative, Northeast Region CAC Chairman, Pennsylvania Wing Cadet AEO Liaison, and as the Cadet Executive Officer of the Butler Composite Squadron 712. He has held several influential leadership positions within CAP, including serving as the Northeast Region CAC Pennsylvania (PA) Primary Representative (2x), PA Wing CAC Chairman, PA Wing Group 1 CAC Chairman, and Cadet Commander. His qualifications include Blue Beret, Ranger 2nd Class, Ranger Field Medic, GTL, MO, and certifications in Model Rocketry and Basic STEM.
Outside of CAP, C/Lt. Col. Lentz is a junior at Duquesne University, where he is pursuing a dual major in Education and History, along with an Early Master’s track in Education Administration K-12. He also minors in Psychology and is working toward a certification in Special Education. With aspirations to become a history teacher, C/Lt. Col. Lentz is committed to shaping the next generation of students.
