Paul and I were in Bandipur as a nice stopping point before going to Chitwan National Park. I was taking a stroll in the area we were staying and came across Namita, her mom and her nephew. I started talking to her. Her English was fabulous. I was watching her in the process of preparing to make a treat called sel roti. She told me to return and she would show me how to make sel roti. I went back to the hotel to get Paul and we returned. We watched her mix the ingredients, start the fire to boil the dough in soy oil. We chatted a great deal of the evening and had a fabulous time with her. She was preparing the sel roti for her trip to Kathmandu where she attends pharmacy school.
We made arrangements to meet with her for lunch in "Patan, also known as 'Lalitpur', the city of artisans, lies 5 km southeast of Kathmandu". I saw a video on YouTube of this tourist exploring the area where we planned on meeting Namita for lunch. The video was intriguing and I said, we are going to have lunch in this restaurant. We had a traditional Newari meal. "Newar, people who comprise about half the population of the Kāthmāndu Valley in Nepal. They speak a language belonging to the Tibeto-Burman family, but their culture has been strongly influenced by Indian religious and social institutions."
