Equity in education means that personal or social circumstances such as gender, ethnic origin or family background, are not obstacles to achieving educational potential. This can then be further broken down into access to resources and services, discipline, and opportunities to name a few. The resources on this page support equity and differentiate between equity and equality.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Office for Safe Schools equity and inclusion webpage contains resources for parents, educators, and professionals serving children and youth in school and out-of-school settings.
Shauna F. King is a former principal and middle level educator. She now serves as a consultant for The University of Maryland Positive Schools Center, a certified presenter for The Upside Down Organization and adjunct faculty for LaSalle University.

Dr. Paul Gorski, is the founder of the Equity Literacy Institute. He has over 20 years of experience helping educators strengthen their equity efforts in classrooms, schools, and districts. He has developed self-paced online courses for education equity. His introduction training's are free and can provide a good place to start to begin to address educational equity.
