Welcome to the Canvas Rubric Migration tutorial.
As the School of Education transitions away from Anthology Portfolio—formerly known as Chalk and Wire—we are now adopting Canvas and its built-in rubrics and data collection tools to gather required performance data for our learners.
The first stage of this migration was moving all Anthology rubrics into Canvas. In the future, we’ll connect Learning Outcomes directly to these rubrics, providing a stronger, more consistent way to track and measure student performance.
So, what does this mean for faculty?
Moving forward, every semester, if your course contains an essential assessment, you will need to import an assessment package into your course. To support this process, a Canvas site called Department–School of Education has been created. Every full-time and associate faculty member should see this site on their dashboard. It contains all of the critical assessments required for accreditation.
Let’s walk through the steps.
Step 1.
On your Canvas dashboard, locate the course called Department–School of Education.
If you don’t see it, please contact Ryan at rschaaf@ndm.edu or Angela at asnyder@ndm.edu for assistance.
Step 2.
Inside the site, locate the assessment you need. From the module list, click the three dots to the right of the assessment title, and select Copy To.
Step 3.
From the menu, select the course where you want the assessment to go, and click Copy.
The assessment, along with its embedded rubric and resources, will now appear in your course.
When you open your course, you’ll see the imported assessment and rubric ready to use.
This simple process ensures that all essential assessments remain aligned with accreditation requirements, while making them easy for you to integrate each semester.
