Sigma Alpha is a professional agricultural-interest sorority. We are the Alpha Theta chapter located at NC State University.

Sigma Alpha is a part of the Professional Fraternity Association (PFA). We put an emphasis on professional development by hosting resume workshops, bringing in professional speakers, learning valuable networking skills, and much more.

Definitely! We host tons of social sisterhood events and philanthropy events. We have mixers, hangout with each other, hold fundraisers, volunteer, workout together, and try exciting new things. Also, we go on sisterhood retreat each semester and hold semi formals and formals.

Sigma Alpha does not own a chapter house and our dues are considerably lower than panhellenic organizations. We do not participate in NCSU’s greek formal rush. Instead, we hold an intimate recruitment week once a semester where you get to meet sisters and learn about the sorority all while having fun. Another big difference is that every single one of our sisters share a common interest, which allows us to instantly build close and meaningful relationships with each other.

If you are a spring admit, no worries! We host both fall and spring recruitment weeks, so that means you will be eligible to join  Sigma Alpha as soon as you arrive on campus in the spring! We will be hosting an information night near the beginning of spring semester, and then recruitment will begin the following week. Not at all! You do not have to be in any specific college or major in order to join Sigma Alpha. We have sisters in all sorts of different majors! All we ask is that you have an interest in agriculture. Do you have passion for animals, food, the outdoors, plants, horticulture, science, sustainability, genetics, ag business, zoology, or crops? If so, then Sigma Alpha may be the perfect place for you!
