The Central Imaging and Flow Cytometry Facility (CIFF) at NCBS offers a comprehensive range of imaging and cell analysis services to support research across the biological and interdisciplinary sciences. The facility is accessible to internal users from NCBS , inSTEM, CCAMP, as well as external academic and industry users, providing state-of-the-art instrumentation and expert technical support.
1. High resolution imaging services
Access to a wide range of microscopes, including confocal, widefield, and super-resolution systems.
Support for time-lapse imaging, multi-channel fluorescence acquisition, and high-content image analysis.
Assistance and custom imaging sessions for specialized applications.
2. Flow cytometry services
Cell analysis and sorting using high-performance flow cytometers.
Quantitative measurements of cell size, viability, and marker expression.
Multicolour panel design and support for advanced experiments.
3. Training and Outreach
Regular hands-on courses and workshops are conducted throughout the year (link).
Bangalore Microscopy Course (BMC) is conducted in September every year.
BD–NCBS Flow Cytometry Training Program is scheduled on quarterly basis.
Specialized training through the Sysmex–NCBS Ploidy Analysis Centre for plant breeders focusing on ploidy estimation and genome size analysis.
4. User support and consultation
Guidance on experimental setup, instrument selection, and data analysis workflows.
Assistance with image/data processing software and publication-quality figure preparation.
Consultation for collaborative projects integrating imaging or cytometry into broader research goals.
