BD-NCBS Centre of Excellence in Flow Cytometry
To strengthen the flow cytometry community and build technical expertise across India, the BD–NCBS Centre of Excellence (COE) was established in 2007 as a collaborative initiative between Becton Dickinson (BD) and the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS).
The COE was created with the vision to cater to the growing needs of flow cytometry education and training in the country. Since its inception, it has been conducting regular basic and advanced training programs designed for students, researchers, clinicians, and medical technologists. These programs combine lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on sessions to help participants understand core cytometry principles, instrumentation, and data analysis.
Through this long-standing partnership, the BD–NCBS COE continues to serve as a national platform for capacity building, skill development, and knowledge exchange in flow cytometry.

Sysmex-NCBS Ploidy Analysis Centre
Established in 2022, the Sysmex–NCBS Ploidy Analysis Centre was created to advance the use of flow cytometry in plant breeding research. The Centre aims to build national capacity by offering specialized training programs for plant breeders, researchers, and students.
The training modules will focus on the fundamentals of flow cytometry, with particular emphasis on ploidy analysis, genome size estimation, and related applications in breeding and genetic improvement programs.
Through this initiative, the Sysmex–NCBS partnership seeks to broaden access to cytometric tools in agricultural and biological sciences, across research and applied domains.
