Join Pack 255

Pack 255 is now a Family Scouting Pack!

This means we are now allowing girls to join Pack 255 and become Cub Scouts. The BSA’s mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

By welcoming both girls and boys into the program, even more youth will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises.

November Pack Meeting

Our Pack Meeting this month focused on emergency preparedness. We welcomed a representative from Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management to do a presentation and work on a plan for our families to be prepared for emergencies.

Scouting for Food

Scouting for Food is the Potomac District’s service project for the needy in Montgomery County. All food collected goes to Manna, a food bank serving Montgomery County, and is stored for use throughout the year. Potomac District Scouts contribute thousands of bags of food each year, supplying the lion’s share of food utilized by Manna each winter for those in need. Reports are that this year’s collection was the most successful yet!

Pack 255 ventured to Calvert Cliffs State Park on Maryland's Western Shore for our Fall Family Campout. With over 100 attendees there was plenty of activity for the Cubs and parents to enjoy. Some Cubs took the opportunity to participate in the Jamboree on the Internet, an annual event where Scouts from all over the world connect to each other via video, audio and chat rooms to learn about Scouting in other parts of the world. Pack 255 talked to Scouts in Wales, Australia, Norway, Columbia, Costa Rica, Philippines, and the US.

Saturday evening was capped off by a campfire program with each den contributing skits, songs and jokes. The food was deliciously prepared and there was plenty for seconds and thirds. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped make the campout a success.
