The municipality of Aveiro is located in the central region of Portugal and is characterized by the existence of the Ria de Aveiro, a brackish water body that functions as an interface between the water of small rivers coming from the interior and the Atlantic Ocean. This characteristic allows the existence of several habitats with the presence of many species.
In the city of Aveiro we can find places of traditional sea salt exploration. These salt pans are used by several birds for food, rest or reproduction.
The resulting soundscape in this location is a mixture of natural sounds, produced by species such as the little tern, ringed plover, dunlin or zitting cisticola.
