The design studies tutorials in Semester 1, 2024, are offered to you under the theme referred of 'natural game'.
This naming of the theme is an acknowledgement that you came into design school, because of your particular understanding of design, from the outside.
You were not wrong.
In these tutorials, these history and theory explorations, Industrial Design can emerge as being about beauty. Industrial Design is about making manufactured things exquisite. So exquisite that you will queue up to buy the designed thing? Absolutely. So these tutorials are about helping you realise that faint dream you had.

So that you are on the side of those that do not have a voice? Something like that. So these tutorials are about helping you realise that faint dream you had.
That one day you will make things exquisite. So that one day people will queue up to buy what you design? Something like that. Leon, who did his honours in 2009, then went on to become Prestology (that is his Instagram handle, for his work at Nike). Do people queue up to buy Nike Prestos? That is for you to find out.
That one day you will make the world a better place, even for those who dont have the means to do so. That you will grow your Erin Brokovich? Why not. Lucy who did her Honours in 2012, works at TACSI realising the change that she can. Jess who did her honours in 2010, works at Oxfam to support agencies that work at the coal face of poverty. Is there a role for you, an agency that you can manifest? That is for you to find out.
