My focus in sem 2, 2024, will be on Effective Altruism. This is a subject that I return to again and again. This topic is about Altruism. But it is also about those in the contemporary - who give. Strategically. We will dive into the world of Peter Singer, of his students and of the potential to make time. To make time to do good in the contemporary.

From 1998 to 2003 Soumitri would spend every day in the company of those that collected garbage. He sat with them, 30 of them, as the sorted waste. He worked out ways to collectivise them. He sought the help of others. Those that could help him with the process of establishing a section 25 company - a cooperative. Three worker owned companies emerged from this work. That felt good to him.

Soumitri approaches every instance of teaching - like a coach. He asks students about their goals. So that he can align himself to be more useful to the student. Like every good coach his work is person centered. Like every good gardener his work is to focus upon growth. 

He believes each of us can be an altruist. That is a requirement for us to realise a better world. Altruists hate jargon? Possibly. Certainly the chatter of the elite is not their favourite activity.
