PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The Sankhla/साँखला Rajputs are a branch of the Parmar/Panwar dynasty of West-Central India.
Parama-bhattaraka Maharajadhiraja Parameshvara UDAYADITYA, 11th Raja of Malwa ca1060/ca1087, he was able to gain control of the Paramara throne with help of the Chahamanas of Shakambhari; he liberated Dhar and Malwa from the yoke of oppressors; he was a patron of literature and art, and is said to have brought up his sons as scholars; married (amongst others), (a), Rani Vagheliji, married (b), Rani Solankiji, and had issue.

Rao Deoridh Rai [aka Deo Rudh Rai], the eighth son, he is said to have settled in Lucknow pargana in about the 14th century; a large square stone is held in great reverence and is said to be the title deed of the family, brought from Delhi by their ancestors, who entered the services of the kings of Delhi and held important posts under them; married and had issue, the Rajas of Itaunja.

Rawat Sarangsen, Chief of the Umat Rajputs 1345/1375, the Parmar Rajputs were driven out of their home by the Sammas in around 1347 (1334 according to others), they then first settled at Dhar, their old home, subsequently he acquired land in the Doab between the Sind and Parbati rivers in about 1351 and obtained the title of Rawat from the Rana of Chitor, married and had issue. He died 1375.

Rawat Karam Singh [aka Karamji], Chief of the Umat Rajputs 1447/1489, he was 4th in descent from Sarangsen, Governor of Ujjain around 1489, he received a sanad for 22 districts in the part of Malwa later known as Umatwara; married and had issue (see Rajgarh for further descendants). He died after 1489.

Rani Alhana Devi, she married Raja Gayakarnadeva, the Kalachuri Raja of Chedi. She died after 1155.
B. As per records of 'Muhta Nainsi ri Khyat':
Harbuji (हरभूजी/हड़बू जी सांखला) was a Sankhla Rajput of Parmar dynasty. He was son of Maharaj or Mahiraj Sankhla, ruler of Bhudel (भूडेल) in Marwar, who died defending his estate during an invasion. Thereafter he relocated to the jungles of Chakhu village (चाखू) near Phalodi in the North-West of Jodhpur for Tapasya, and finally settled at Begti or Baimhgati. He was a well-known omen-reader and seer (peer) and is worshipped as a local deity in Rajasthan.

Raja BAHAR PARMAR, Raja of Kiradu state in Marwar, near Phalodi, married and had issue, two sons.
Rana SODH PARMAR, ancestor of Sodha dynasty of Amarkot, Haveli, Parkar.
Rana BAGH PARMAR, he was killed by Jaichand Parihar. His son avenged his death after receiving a boon from goddess Sachiyay of Osian.
Raja BAIRSI PARMAR, 1st Sankhla King, as mother goddess granted him a conchshell or shankh, so his descendants came to be known as Sankhlas. [Source: Nainsi ki Khyat]

Rana Raisingh Sankhla, Rana of Roon, he left Roon and founded Raisar village in Janglu (now in Bikaner) said to be initially established by Maharani Ajade Dahiyani, wife of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, and a stronghold of Dahiya (Johiya) Rajputs. He stayed there in a secret place (Guda) and used to raid and rob Roon. Later, he captured Janglu Fort as the local people were unhappy with the Dahiya rulers.

Kunwar Gopalde Sankhla of Janglu, he was with his Johiya (Joiya) relatives at Joiyawar when he was killed by his cousin Uda Sankhla; married (amongst others) Rani Mangliyani ji of Khimsar (Nagaur), she had issue, a posthumous son, who avenged the death of his father when he turned 15 and attacked Janglu.

Rana Meha Raj Sankhla [Maharaj/Mehraj/Mahiraj] of Kiradu or Bhundel/Mundel (भुण्डेल/मुंडेल) near Nagaur, sometime Prime Minister of Rao RanigDe Bhati of Pungal, he took revenge of his grandfather and father's death. In view of his cordial relations with Rao Chunda Rathore, his son Aalansi Sankhla went with Goga De (son of Chunda Rathore). While fighting against the Joiyas, Alansi was put to sword by prince Sadul Bhati of Pugal. Mahe Raj who had thick moustache, did not forget the death of his son Alansi. So, Rana Meha Raj broke all relations with Pugal and took prominent part when Arada Kamal of Nagaur slew Sadul. So Ranig De took a vow to kill Meha Raj and attacked him (instead of much stronger Nagaur) with his full force at Bhundel (under Nagaur State), and killed Meh Raj. Meh Raj sent his nephew (bhanja) Soma Rakhsiya to Rao Chunda Rathore for help. But before the arrival of the Rathore army Meha Raj was killed. Ranig De retreated to Pugal quickly. He married a Bhati princess of Jaisalmer? (sister of Rani Mainade, wife of Ajmalji Tanwar of Runicha-Pokaran) and had issue.
Kunwar Aalansi Sankhla, killed by Kunwar Sadul Bhati of Pugal in the strife along with Goga De Rathore in 1411 AD.

Rana Moonja Sankhla, Raja of Janglu, he killed his elder brother Rana Amba and usurped the throne of Janglu. He was killed by Meh Raj.
Rana Uda Sankhla, Raja of Janglu, he killed his cousin Gopalde Sankhla at Joiya state, married and had issue, two sons. He was killed by his nephew Meh Raj.
Rana Punpal (पुनपाल), Raja of Janglu (जांगलू का स्वामी), married and had issue.
Rana Manakrao (माणकराव), Raja of Janglu [same as? Rana Manda Sankhla or Mando Jaitavat Sankhla, Raja of Run (रूण ठिकाने or रूणेचा?), in Marwar.]
Rana Napa Sankhla, Raja of Janglu, he was initially in service of Rana Kumbha, Rana of Chittor (Mewar), but later went to Mandore with Rao Jodha Rathore; he was also with Rao Bika (Vikrama) when he founded Bikaner State. Napasar is a town named after him in Bikaner. The Baloch attacked Janglu during his time, and he probably sought help of Rao Jodha in establishing the rule of his nephews Bika and Bida in the territory of Johiyas, Mohils (Chapar Dronpur), Sankhlas. He married xxxx, and had issue, the Napa Sankhla clan.
?Rani Naurangde Sankhli of Run, a sister of Napa Sankhla, married Rao Jodha Rathore, Raja of Jodhpur, and had issue.

Sankhali Rani Supyarde Runechi (सुप्यारदे रूणेचा), bethrowed to Prince Narbad Rathore, a nephew of Rao Ranmal of Mandore, but after he lost Mandore, she married Nar Singh Sindhal (Bidawat Rathore) of Jetaran.
Devraj Sankhla, revolted against Rao Chunda Rathore; later killed by Rao Chunda's favourite son Kana Rathore after Chunda's death as Devraj was ally of enemy Nagaur Army in that war.
Sankhali Baisa, married Narbad Rathore, son of Rao Satta (usurper of his brother Rao Ranmal's throne) and grandson of Rao Chunda Rathore of Mandore; Narbad was son of a Sonigra Chauhan lady of Pali; he was granted jagir of Kailana estate having annual income of 1 Lac by Maharana Kumbha.

Bhatiyani Rani Sarangdeji Sahiba, née Lakshmi Bai (Lichmi), daughter Kunwar Kalikaran Keharot, of Jaisalmer, married as his 1st wife, Rao Suja, son of Rao Jodha Rathore of Jodhpur [brother-in-law of Napa Sankhla]. As the (Tomar?) ruler of Pokaran had refused her marriage proposal, hence, after decades of that insult, when she became the queen, she asked her son to overthrow them.

Uda, the son of Moonja, also killed Gopal-de, the son of Amba. Mehraj, son of Gopal, took the revenge of his father and grand father's murder and killed both Moonja and Uda and threw them in the well of the village Dhingsari.
