Introduction
To ensure the safety of all officers. It is a priority to keep the communications up to standard. Communications are one of the most important and most used things for the MPS. They help officers understand what is going on in situations so they can deal with them to the best of their ability.
Basics
Radios should be kept clear at all times and only be used for serious communications about an on-going situation etc. Officers can receive punishment for talking/waffling in the radios.
When using the MPS radio you should exercise the ABC of communication discipline.
Theses are:
Accuracy: Be precise in radio transmissions
Brevity: Limit the amount of time spent transmitting as you need to share the airwaves with everyone.
Clarity: Transmit each word plainly and clearly with good speed, rhythm and rate. not too fast or slow.
Useful commands
/showcompass (also in f2 menu)
/streetnames (also in f2 menu)
/blipson
Street names can be usefull at times but try and stick to POIs as these are more universally known
***Do not speak over others when they are using the radio.***
Nine times out of ten you should wait for a break in order to call up on the radio but there are rare occasions that may require you to interrupt radio traffic. be clear and concise as to why, dont waffle.
example of good communications are:
"CN-100 state five to Tonga Valley store Robbery"
"T-24 I have a fail to stop Blue Mustang Legion towards Casino Highway, can i have additionals please" (you would then wait for further units to assign before giving pursuit comms)
"NPAS-1 Coke store, two white males with phase 2 firearms, black top white bottoms. Can i have additional ground units"
d to communications on radio.
Managing radios is a key part of effective policing - so if you attend a situation where there's a hostage (or if a pursuit develops and it is possible) please move it over to a separate radio, here you can either use Radio 2/3 or utilise any of the Interops or Tacops channels. To create Interops or Tacops Radio channels simply type t/interops 1 (or the number of the channel you want) then press enter or use a number that suits you. This is the same for tacops.
During pursuits the Communications should be NPAS --> Primary Vehicle, meaning if there is NPAS at the scene they should take Communications, If NPAS is not present the Lead (Primary) Vehicle should take communications.
State codes
In order to assist that MPs Gold Command would like that you use the following key status codes when communicating on the radio.
Status Codes or State Codes are used as a way of providing a clear understandable standard to communications on radio.
Code
State 2
State 5
State 6
State 15
State 16
Status
On patrol
En-route to situation
Arrived on scene
Received communication
Repeat last communication
Requesting Tactical Contact
When requesting Tactical Contact you must request it over radios. Please give the vehicle description, the manor in what they are driving in and the weather conditions. E.g. “This is CN-10 requesting Tactical Contact on this white BMW, they are swerving in and out of lanes, they have rammed officers and the pursuit has been going for 4 minutes ”.
The Officer authing Tactical Contact may ask for further information, answer these to the best of your ability.
Communications training
Communication training is extremely useful in order to make sure you are up to scratch and following correct procedure. It is required in order to receive promotion in MPS and in order to join NPAS
Communications training can be done by a Flight Instructor or a Senior Flight Instructor listed in the NPAS Info channel in discord.
Good communication skills come with time and experience. Trying to get better at this skill should not end when you complete your comms training.
See the POI maps to give you a more chance of picking out identifiable locations to direct officers to.
If you need your communications training done then contact one of the Flight Instructors / Senior Flight Instructors found below:
