Hand Held Sculpture

Hand Held Sculpture

For this project, the assignment was to create a purely sculptural piece that in some way represented touch. This is conceptually my favorite project I have made. This is a 3 piece sculpture. The black and white curves represent two holding hands that when they are put together look perfect, and when you open them up you can see all the imperfections. And all of this is resting on a golden crumbling pedestal. This project goes into the idea of how something may seem perfect, but on the inside can be a mess. This project was made out of porcelain clay. I hand-built the curves, and threw the base on the potter's whel. The curves are glazed, and the base is painted with acrylic paint.
