Digital "Back to School Night" Orientation
DigitalB2SNight2020.movOrientation and Back to School nights are generally boring for parents and exhausting for teachers. At Westlake, families rotate through their child's daily schedule, bells and all. I am usually so tired after teaching to students and adults on the same day, that I am certain my later classes of families do not get my very best. A video for back to school night allows parents to watch at their own pace, in their own time, and it provides an opportunity to pause or rewind and take notes or screenshots. It proved to be a much better solution.
Instructional Slides for projection on a smartboard or white board + Nearpod
By running my instructional slides in Nearpod, I can make the experience self-paced or I can run it live. I will get responses from every student in a spreadsheet.
This is a great way for quiet, introverted students to answer questions and participate without having to speak in front of everyone else or work their way into a discussion.
