Clips

Short videos with speech-to-text and a variety of filters, icons, etc.

In a year when teachers wore masks and were often remote in quarantine, a video where they could see and hear their instructors was crucial to start forming relationships. It is also fun to use a tool that is not typically associated with school as a way to share your personality and catch the students' attention. Yes, I may have been laughing at myself the whole time, but that is important--especially for teens who are embarrassed by everything. We all need to be able to laugh at ourselves and learn from our experiences.

Introduction & Coaching Philosophy

I made this as part of an assignment in the Apple Learning Coach certification program that I am currently doing (halfway there!).

One possible use of this app could be to practice speaking and verify that your speech is clear and your pronunciation is correct. For modern language learners, it is fun and instructive to make a clips video in their target language and see how their speech and pronunciation are understood by the app's multilingual text-to-speech captioning. The text caption feature can reveal previously unknown idiosyncrasies in your native tongue, so be warned, but also be at least as patient with yourself as you would be with a friend or colleague.
