Hi! I’m Narendra Kurnia Putra, an Assistant Professor in the Instrumentation, Control, and Automation Research Group at the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FIT), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia.
I earned my Ph.D. in Bioengineering and Robotics from the Graduate School of Engineering, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan. During my doctoral studies, I worked at the Biomedical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at the Institute of Fluid Science, where my research focused on multiobjective optimization and design exploration of intravascular stents.
Since August 2019, I have been part of the Engineering Physics Department at FIT ITB, and in July 2021 I was appointed as Assistant Professor. Alongside teaching, I conduct research at the Medical Instrumentation Laboratory, where my work centers on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for biomedical systems—with a particular interest in hemodynamics, biofluid dynamics, medical instrumentation and measurements, and biomedical engineering more broadly.
Beyond research and teaching, I also serve as Head of the Partnership Team at FIT ITB, where I help initiate, support, and maintain collaborations with academic, industrial, research, and governmental partners.
Outside of academia, I’m curious about many things. I enjoy cooking simple meals, tending to small plants, and—most importantly—spending quality time with my little family.
