VLSI Design Lab

The VLSI Design Lab has some of the latest and most advance EDA tools, FPGA boards. These include:

Full-custom Cadence Research Bundle (10 users)

                COMSOL Multiphysics (Institute License)

            Synopsys TCAD- university bundle

Genesys Virtex5 FPGA Development Kit (10 users)

Xilinx ISE Design Suite (25 nos.)

            Tanner tools (15 license)

The lab is currently housed in Room no. 207, Main Academic Building and primarily focuses on experimental studies for the UG courses of Microelectronics and VLSI, Digital IC Design, Analog IC Design, Circuit Simulation Lab, VLSI Device Lab & Physical Design and EDA Lab. For performing the UG experiments, 20 clients are networked with the servers as a part of the VLSI Design Lab.

NANOLAB

The NANOLAB, housed in Room No. 628 of the New Academic Building, Department of Electronics Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology(Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad was established in 2017. The main research focus is on design and optimization of nanoscale devices, circuits and interconnects for next generation ICs. This includes, graphene-based nano devices and interconnects, emerging 2-D materials based interconnects and devices, and development of post-Silicon technologies. The Lab has been setup using the start-up grants of the institute as well as the infrastructure grants of Department of Science and Technology, grants by DST, TIH, MeitY etc. NANOLAB is equipped with softwares like Quantum Espresso, Wannier 90, NanoTCAD ViDES, Cadence Research Bundle, COMSOL Multiphysics, Vivado Suite, MATLAB etc. All the above software tools are hosted on a High End Workstation and 05 other dedicated data processing and computation systems.
