Research Topic

Tool-use by Robots

The aim is to make robots understand the functions and the way to use of tools. I construct a deep learning model which allows robots to recognize intrinsic and extrinsic characteristics of target objects with their cameras, tactile sensors and force sensors. Then the robots select proper tools even if they are untrained and operate the target objects automatically.

Housework Robot Control

I construct a deep learning model that makes robots recognize the environment and the targets every moment with their cameras. Then the robots can adapt to environments more flexibly and can handle

untrained targets. Until now, we realized robots to pour liquids, wipe objects and serve food.
