Research Topic
Tool-use by Robots
My research aims to enable robots to autonomously acquire and utilize tool–object–action relationships. I develop multi-modal deep learning models that integrate visual, tactile, and force information, allowing robots to understand both intrinsic and extrinsic properties of target objects. With these models, robots can select appropriate tools and manipulate novel objects even in untrained situations.
Domestic Task Robot Automation
I am interested in online motion generation and adaptive manipulation with real robots. So far, I have implemented systems that allow robots to perform daily tasks such as pouring liquids, wiping surfaces, transferring ingredients, cutting pizza, and even cooking scrambled eggs.
Vision-Language-Action (VLA) Models for Robotic Manipulation
Recently, I have been exploring Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models to bridge high-level human instructions and low-level robot control. My goal is to develop frameworks that enable robots to interpret natural language commands, ground them in their perceptual observations, and generate executable motion plans that adapt to real-world contexts.
