Dr. Nakatsukasa graduated Kyoto University in 1998 and received his master's degree in Biochemistry in 2000. He then moved to Nagoya University, worked with Prof. Toshiya Endo on the mechanism of the endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation, and received his Ph.D. in 2004. Next, he performed his postdoctoral studies with Prof. Jeffrey Brodsky at the University of Pittsburgh. In 2009, he joined Prof. Takumi Kamura's laboratory as Assistant Professor in the Division of Biological Science, Graduate School of Science at Nagoya University before he was promoted to Lecture in 2015. Dr. Nakatsukasa then moved to Graduate School of Science, Nagoya City University as Associate Professor in 2017, where he started his own laboratory as a principal investigator. In 2024, he was promoted to Full Professor. Dr. Nakatsukasa’s work now focuses on understanding how the ubiquitin system regulates organelle function and metabolic homeostasis.
