MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS US AT WORK
You and your co-workers choose to join NAGE Local R5-45 to gain a voice on the job. Working together, union members have the strength to obtain improved working conditions. Although Federal employees are guaranteed certain rights under Title 5 of the U.S. Code, Local R5-45 acts to ensure your rights are upheld.
NAGE Local R5-45 is the exclusive representative of Southeast Regional Office employees with SERO management for workplace issues.
NAGE Local R5-45 serve all bargaining unit employees by assisting them in dealing with a variety of workplace issues, such as discrimination, proposed changes in your job, disciplinary actions, reductions in force, and other issues.
Members are eligible to receive free legal counsel from NAGE's team of top-notch labor lawyers.
Becoming a member of NAGE Local R5-45 is easy. First, you must be in our bargaining unit. To learn if you are or are not, contact either a Local Officer, SERO Human Resources representative, or someone in the Office of Workforce Management.
Contact any of the Local's Officers if you have any questions.
MEMBER BENEFITS FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
NAGE Scholarships: Awarded lottery-style these scholarships are available to members of NAGE, IBPO, IBCO, and IAEP, and the member's spouse, child, grandchild, niece, nephew, or significant other. The application takes about 3 minutes to complete.
SEIU Member Benefits: Through member-only programs offered by SEIU in partnership with Union Privilege—a program founded by the AFL-CIO to provide consumer benefits—NAGE is able to provide you and your family with special discounts, rates, and savings. Union Privilege programs are designed specifically for working families, and you don't have to join Union Plus or Union Privilege; as a member or retiree of NAGE, you and your family are automatically eligible for benefits.
MEMBERSHIP DUES
Like any other member organization, NAGE relies upon member dues not only to cover operational costs, but also to fund various programs and initiatives. Our union is different from other organizations, however, because our activities funded by our dues put our union on the front lines of our struggle to protect our vital interests, such as workers' rights to healthy working conditions and a voice on the job, and to win the wages and benefits that we deserve.
Our dues are used by the Local up through the National office to serve us and our co-workers in a number of ways: negotiating contracts; training of union representatives; defending members and enforcing contracts; winning improved legislation and public services; new member organizing; occupational safety and health programs; education and publications for union program; office rents, supplies and administration; and membership in SEIU.
Once you have completed and submitted the form, dues will be withheld from your paycheck for at least one year.
