Grievances & EEO Complaints
Grievance: Under most instances you have 20-days to initiate a workplace grievance.
EEO/Discrimination/Harassment: Any employee who feels they are a victim of discrimination or harassment must contact the NOAA Civil Rights Office within 45 CALENDAR DAYS of the alleged discrimination to preserve your rights under the law. You can reach the Civil Rights Office by dialing 301-713-0500.
A grievance is any unjust action, practice or condition committed by management. It is a statement that an employer, or someone acting on behalf of an employer, has violated a worker's rights that have been agreed to under the contract, or through legislation, or through the employer's past practice, or through the employer failing to meet management rules or responsibilities, or through lack off fair treatment.
If you feel you have a grievance it is important to contact a representative of the grievance committee.
The NAGE Local R5-45 Grievance Committee reviews each complaint to provide guidance to the employee as well as the Local regarding grievances.
