Road Trip:
This idea came from me actually going on a pretty lengthy drive, and thought to take advantage of the different scenic views along the route. I would begin by turning on the radio and immediately starting the ride. The video would then show different clips of major landmarks, nature, and the road. In the end I decided not to do this because it seemed too grandeous and the road trip was not convient to the timelilne of the final.
Scary Movie:
Due to the complexity of the first ideas I changed the scope to my home for a more controlled and manageable environment. This idea is meant to poke fun to my aversion to horror films. I had planned to possibly show myself turning off a scary movie, going to bed, and turning off the lights to sleep. Upon hearing a sound I turn on every light and sleep with a flashlight. In the end I didnt choose this option because I found it may be difficult to make sure I was in focus and in frame since I would nt have another pair of eyes to assist me.
Final Idea : Movie Ritual at Home
Storyboard
Synopsis:
The idea I landed on was still geared toward watching a movie, but rather the shooting will be much easier to film because it would only be mostly inanimate objects instead of myself. This idea is somewhat a ritualistic way of prepping for a movie night at home.
It will be begin on a black screen with the sound of microwave beeps and hum. The next shot will be of the popcorn spinning and popping in the microwave, to then a shot of me grabbing the bag with a view from inside the microwave.
The popcorn is then opened and and poured into a bowl with a view of the popcorn pouring on top of the camera (from inside the bowl).
I will then slide a saucer toward myself that hold 2 cookies. Once the cookies and popcorn are prepared we have a moment of walking to the living room with popcorn and saucer in my hands.
The snacks are placed on a small table and then I use the remote to play the movie. The last shot will be a shot from behind my head watching the tv as it slowly pans out and fades to black.
Purpose:
I find this topic to be beneficial because of the different angles and lighting opportunities to explore while compiling the shots. Even though theres range in the lighting they should all encompass the same 'at home' feel.
Planned Improvements:
Something I noticed immediately was the transisiton sound of the popcorn. Realistically, I cannot do a full shot of the popcorn popping so I will need to find a way to capture and clip the sounds to have a more fluid transition of the popcorn popping and the microwave beeping within a reasonable amount of time. I want to improve on my angles and possibly create a makeshift bounce light to help the lighting in the scenes.
