Youth Development & Safety Program

At the Journey Chapter of NAAGA, we believe the next generation deserves knowledge, discipline, and guidance that go far beyond the range. Our Youth Development & Safety Program gives young people the tools they need to grow into confident, capable, and responsible leaders—in their homes, schools, and communities.

Our Approach

We combine safety education, leadership training, and skill-building activities to prepare youth for real-world challenges. Firearm safety is an important component, but it’s just one part of a well-rounded development experience that also includes personal growth, physical activity, and community service.

Program Highlights

Firearm Safety & Responsibility
Safe handling, storage, and awareness skills taught in a controlled, age-appropriate environment.

Situational Awareness & Personal Safety
How to recognize danger, make quick decisions, and protect themselves in everyday life.

Leadership & Teamwork
Group activities that build confidence, communication skills, and respect for others.

Discipline & Goal Setting
Learning the value of commitment, consistency, and seeing tasks through to the end.

Physical Fitness & Outdoor Skills
Activities that encourage health, coordination, and confidence in outdoor settings.

Community Service Projects
Opportunities to give back and develop a sense of responsibility and pride in their community.

Age & Participation

Ages 8–17 (must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).

Signed parental consent and participation in an introductory safety briefing are required.

Equipment for activities, including protective gear for any firearms training, is provided.

Our Goal for the Next Generation

We aim to raise disciplined, educated, and engaged youth who understand that safety, respect, and responsibility are not just lessons for the range—they are values for life. Whether learning to safely handle a firearm, lead a team project, or serve the community, every young participant leaves with skills they can carry forward into adulthood.
