Amazon Sports to be launched soon

In light of Andy Jassy's increased reliance on Prime Video, Amazon has discussed developing a standalone sports app.

According to people briefed on the discussions, Amazon has considered developing a stand-alone app for streaming sports content. As CEO Andy Jassy intensifies the company's streaming ambitions, the move is made.

The discussions indicate Amazon may be considering new ways to extract revenue from the billions of dollars in deals it has signed to stream live sports events, which it has so far largely included in the basic Prime membership. However, one of those people claimed the company hasn't decided whether to move forward with the project. Jassy recently mentioned spending money on streaming rights for live sports in particular.
