Farmall 140
Purchased: August 17, 2013
From a Kansas City, Kansas family
Year Built: 1964
Drawbar Horsepower: 21
Belt Horsepower: 23
February 2014:
Added a belt pulley assembly
from a super C. This will be
needed to power the belly mower.
This pictures shows the
mounting frame for the
belly mower. I also added
a draw-bar purchased off
E-bay for $120.00. The
tractor's draw-bar was
missing.
March 2014
Made a step for the 140 using an old planter plate. I saw this done on some tractors at the Red Power Roundup.
April 2014
Began mounting the International belly mower. I decided to paint the back half as I went, not sure if this is a good idea. Note the draw bar hitch I made.
June 2014
Above: Running the mower for the first time! After some blade adjustment, it worked well.
I added a wheel weight to the right side as you can see in this picture. With the tractor jacked at the cent of the drawbar and me sitting in the seat, the tractor was balanced. With the offset design, these tractors were prone to left roll-overs.
As of July 2014, I have:
Removed the cultivator
Overhauled the Touch Control System
Replaced the steering wheel
Replaced the spark plugs
Rebuilt the generator
Replaced the regulator
Purchased a new battery
New voltage meter
Added a drawbar
Set the rear wheels to their original side and re-taped the lug threads
Added an International C-3 Rotary Mower (Belly Mount) from my
brother's 140 he no longer wanted. The mower needed: New blades,
new belts, straightening-strengthening-welding, repair of the end slides,
cleaning and painting.
Added one wheel weight to right side
Replaced the seat
Replaced the gaskets in the final drive oil pan
Changed all fluids
Did some re-wiring, new light switch, and added a safety light
Made a step and drawbar hitch
Added a steering knob
Painted the rear half of the tractor and primed the sheet metal. (currently
I am using it to mow for the summer!)

As a cultivator tractor, in the sweet corn patch! Spring 2020.
