The story of La llorona is that she was angry with her husband for cheating on her and in retaliation she drowned her kids. Right after she realized what she had done and had instant regret and took her own life to be with her kids. But now her spirit lives with the regret of what she did.

La Llorona is one of the scarier creatures talked about today and the physical apperance matches it, she wears a white and dirty wedding like dress and always wears a white veil as well to cover her face. She has long black hair as well as a pale white face.

La llorona is known to be near bodies of water like rivers or lakes.

While near these bodies of water La llorona is known to cry and scream "Mis hijos" which means my kids in spanish
Cultural significance
The story of La llorona has been told in hispanic culture for hundreds of years it is used to keep children away from bodies of water to keep them safe. Some people dont belive that this story is real but many also belive that La llorona is real and they stay away from bodies of water for that reason.

There have been many reported sightings of La llorna the most common area is in south texas usually around the rivers and lakes shes known for being around. There have also been sightings in Chicago and in New Mexico, both were reported in the mid and late 1900's.
