This was taken by Sherman Shook on October 20th, 1952, four months after the modernized junction became operational. Three blocks from my house, I got to watch a lot of trains from the nearby playground growing up.
My photo and article on the junction.
The CNJ caboose is crossing over the diamond.
The signal bridge is patterned afer the 4-track eastbound home signal located northeast of Franklin Jct.
A cantilever signal bridge protects the LV west side of the junction.
Franklin Tower sits adjacent to Division Street road crossing with working flashers and crossing bell.
The tower operator watches as the LV Wilkes-Barre yard switcher approaches the junction.
