Is interview compulsory for a UK visitor visa?

It is not a legal requirement for the applicant applying for a UK visitor visa to be interviewed whilst their application is under consideration. However, the applicant can be contacted from the British High Commission, Embassy or Consulate and be requested to provide further information or documents to enable the decision maker or casework to reach a final decision on the application.
