Is IELTS required for ILR?

To qualify for Indefinite leave to remain in the UK, you will need to demonstrate and prove your knowledge of the English language. To fulfil the English test requirement of the Immigration rules for ILR,  you may be required to take 2 tests – Life in the UK and B1 Speaking and Listening test from an approved Home Office list of providers. You may only be required to take one test if you can demonstrate you have obtained a qualification that meets the requirement of B1 or above. Before applying for ILR and depending on the circumstances of your case, it is important to ensure you are up to date with the current rules and seek advice to obtain a positive outcome.
