28.09.2023: As mentioned in the daily news update, basketball throwing experience would help children in improving their aiming skills and hand-eye coordination, playing in a group of friends would also help children to develop their social skills. An additional experience was also implemented on the day to enhance the colour recognition which was animal puzzle knobs.
05.10.2023: An extension from colour learning journey, this experience assist children in their fine-motor skills and colour name recognition, some children used hands and other chose to sit onto the bubble wrap to make it pop.
12.10.2023: The colour learning journey lasted to week 5 which children had the opportunity to use texture and colour to colour the caterpillar, as extent activity from caterpillar experience on Tuesday together and turned it into a “caterpillar colouring” on Thursday at the same week. An additional experience was also implemented spontaneous with the children was colour stacking cups, it also an experience to help children in recognising the colour and also extend the learning to STEM – big cup, small cup.
19.10.2023: The colour recognition learning journeys conducted the last experience of pegs and boards where children would stacking the peg into the hole on the board. Beside colour recognition learning, as stated in the daily news, the experience also assisted children in their grasping and aiming skills.
16.11.2023: The colour recognition learning journey kept going since the last experience in children’s free play and spontaneous learning moments, and it came back to planned experience with higher challenges level to enhance children’s problem-solving skills. Children had the opportunity to participate in the sorting and matching colour experience which they would put the green pom-pom in the green cup and green pom-pom in red. The children spent for around 15 minutes in this experience before they headed to other activity in the room, and one of the children sat there longer than others to complete the sorting pom-pom play.
17.11.2023: The colour learning was directed and associated STEM learning, the children had the opportunity to engage in their interested learning – colour – as well as with science learning – colour changing. The children were enthusiasm while the experience was set up at the wall. The children also participate in a spontaneous experience – chalk drawing on wall – during their free play in the afternoon.
26.10.2023: The name recognition journey started with my observation that some of the older children started mumbling and pronouning words and most of the children were starting to recognise their name when they were called, therefore, we conducted a group time greeting with the children with their name tag flashcards on. Additional experience was also included in the day which was playdough with leaves which was planned based on one of the children’s interests in natural resources (the bush at the yard and dry leaves).
02.11.2023: The name recognition learning with flashcards continued since the last group time with the children, some of the children could recognise and responded when they were called during group time, and some were about to recognise their friends by potting to their friends once their friends were called. We also did an additional experience of ghost and spider making with playdough to celebrate Halloween week on that day.
