Amiodarone is an antianginal and class III antiarrhythmic drug. It increases the duration of ventricular and atrial muscle action by inhibiting POTASSIUM CHANNELS and VOLTAGE-GATED SODIUM CHANNELS. There is a resulting decrease in heart rate and in vascular resistance.
Dosage
300mg IV push in VF/pVT in Cardic Arrest Patient
150 mg /IV push as second dosage for cardiac arrest patient in VF/pVT
Img/min slow IV infusion @ 1mg /minute in AF
Maxium dosage is 2.2 gm /24 hrs
