For this project, I first took cybersecurity training to gain information on types of cybersecurity and how it all works. I then had to do some research on cybersecurity articles in the news. After selecting two different cybersecurity topics (Identity Theft & Phishing scams), I wrote a summary of them and evaluated their sources.
An 88-year-old woman reported receiving an email named "Federal Trade Commission" with the name and direct phone number of a "litigation officer". The email also had information about the \Federal Reserve System, which was copied directly from their website to make the email look even more reliable. The woman called the number that was on the email and the scammers informed her that her daughter was in financial need of help and that if she sent the money to him he would be able to transfer it into her daughter's account. The scammers were able to scam this woman for a total of $15,500. Sometimes Phishing emails can be very hard for some to identify. For this woman, it seems so real because of all the other information that was attached to the email, but something that can help this situation to stop occurring would be just going to the main source to double check or make sure if you are feeling a little unsure about an email or any kind of communication from someone.

The truthfulness and integrity of the facts: It mentions the Federal Reserve & and how a personal phone number and name of an officer was involved in it. Seems real, just mentions how the story isn't completely unfolded so more evidence needs to be found.
How is it presented? No ads just other news article options from Boston News
Links and Citations: No links, a quote of what the lieutenant had to say about the situation and regarding the rest of Boston
This article explains how 36-year-old George Santos, a member of the sixth house was convicted of federal fraud and identity theft. Santos stole political donors' and campaign contributors' money, as well as claimed unemployment while working. He dressed and acted like a drag queen named "Kitara Ravache" and charged people $350 for each video. The more privacy and protection we keep on our personal information the harder it will be for people like Santos to steal others identity and information.

I learned most of my knowledge about cybersecurity from this training and could only earn a certificate with 100% accuracy in the courses.
After this lesson, I learned how to identify different information security like malware, ransomware attacks, phishing scams, etc. I also learned more about the world I live in and how people are so okay with doing these kinds of things to people/businesses/etc. I didn't realize how common/ easy it is to have these attacks happen. Finally, I was able to better identify the reliability of articles by using the evaluation steps. Overall I enjoyed researching and learning about this lesson.
