Facilitators' Guide: Understanding and Applying the Inter-Agency Minimum Standards for GBV in Emergencies Programming 

Released in January 2021 by the GBV AoR, this guide aims to equip actors implementing and supporting specialized GBV programming in humanitarian settings with an understanding of the GBV Minimum Standards’ content; and secondly outlines a process for assessing how the GBV Minimum Standards are currently implemented in their setting to support the improved application of the Standards without doing harm.

ELRHA Report Launch on GBV Gap Analysis: A Global Consultation 

The  Elrha just released the report "GBV Gap Analysis: a global consultation". This Gap Analysis seeks to update the outstanding and persistent gaps that continue to challenge the GBV sector. It builds upon our first Gap Analysis, providing a further breakdown of how challenges, such as the need for quality GBV expertise or improved monitoring and evaluation of GBV programming, manifest across different types of GBV programming.

New IASC Guidelines on Working with and for Young People in Humanitarian Emergencies and Protracted Crises 

The IASC Youth Guidelines aim to mobilize commitment and action with and for young people in humanitarian and protracted contexts. It also calls for investment in programmes that support young people to develop and reach their full potential and be advocates of their own rights as agents of change across sectors, and across all phases of the humanitarian programme cycle. 

GBV AoR Helpdesk

January 2020 marks the beginning of the 2nd year of the GBV AoR Helpdesk, a unique research and technical advisory service run by Social Development Direct on behalf of the GBV Area of Responsibility (AoR), which aims to inspire and support humanitarian practitioners to mitigate, prevent and respond to violence against women and girls in emergencies. The Helpdesk provides free and confidential support to a broad range of humanitarian actors, including UN agencies, INGOs, and women’s rights organisations, through provision of services such as:

Rapid Technical Support– The Helpdesk can provide rapid technical advice and support on GBV coordination and programming in line with international standards, guidelines and best practice.

Rapid Desk Research Reports – The Helpdesk can carry out global literature and evidence reviews and produce high-quality written reports which highlight best practice in GBV in emergencies programming and signpost the reader to relevant tools and resources.

Quarterly Research, Learning and Evidence Digests – Field-friendly thematic summaries of existing research, evidence and learning in relation to GBV in emergencies programming.

Guidance Notes – In depth guidance notes on best practice in GBV in emergencies programming and policy-making in relation to current and emerging issues and trends.

Myanmar Partners in Policy and Research (MPPR) who champions research, advocacy, and project development and implementation related to sexual and reproductive health and rights in Myanmar has been awared with the Gender Equality Network's Most Active Member Award for 2020. Congratulations, dear colleagues!
